The streaming service gave Space Force a straight-to-series order, which is described as a workplace comedy focusing on a group of people who must develop a sixth branch of the military, inspired by President Trump’s desire to develop a “Space Force” military branch.

The series will be led by Golden Globe winner Steve Carell (The Office) as General Mark R. Naird and John Malkovich as Dr. Adrian Mallory. It will also star Diana Silvers (Booksmart, Ma) as Erin Naird, Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as F. Tony Scarapiducci, Jimmy O. Yang (Crazy Rich Asians) as Dr. Chan Kaifang, Tawny Newsome as Angela Ali and Alex Sparrow as Bobby Telatovich.

Space Force will mark a reunion between Carell and The Office creator Greg Daniels. Carell and Daniels co-created the series together and will executive produce alongside 3 Arts’ Howard Klein, whom the two previously worked with on the acclaimed NBC comedy that ran for eight years.

Netflix has been streaming The Office for years and ratings are reportedly higher than many of its original series on the service and picked the show up upon hearing of the project before it could be shopped to any other networks.
