Craig T. Nelson cast as recurring role in Young Sheldon season 3
Craig T. Nelson is reprising his role as Coach … sort of. According to Deadline, the veteran actor will return to televisions for the third season of Young Sheldon in which he will play the character Coach Dale Ballard, a Little League baseball coach who comes to blows with George Sr. (Lance Barber) over Missy (Raegan Revord) joining the team.
Nelson’s signature series Coach ran on ABC from 1989-97, garnering Nelson an Emmy for his portrayal of head coach Hayden Fox. Since then, the actor has starred in a number of high profile gigs, including Pixar’s animated hits The Incredibles and The Incredibles 2, all six seasons of Parenthood, Grace and Frankie, Monk, CSI: NY and My Name is Earl.
Young Sheldon is a half-hour, single-camera comedy series stars Iain Armitage as the eponymous young Sheldon, alongside Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan. Jim Parsons, who plays the elder Sheldon on the flagship series, provides the narration. The show follows the nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper who lives with his family in East Texas and going to high school. And will continue to do so.
Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak serve as executive producers. Young Sheldon is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The series airs on Thursdays following The Big Bang Theory.
