See How Droids Are Built at Disney World's Galaxy's Edge!

With the big grand opening to the public today, the folks at Walt Disney World invited ComingSoon.net to experience the east coast’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Orlando for ourselves! When you visit the Droid Depot you can fulfill your dream of getting the Droid you’ve always wanted to have. We got to go over step-by-step how to create Droids, and you can see all the fun steps involved in our gallery below!

Both east and west coast versions of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will allow guests to visit a remote trading port on the edge of wild space, where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life – and where guests will find themselves in the middle of the action. The lands will feature two major attractions that put guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Each attraction – and even the land itself – will offer guests the chance to immerse themselves in the Star Wars universe like never before.

“Rise of the Resistance” (opening at Disney World on December 5 and at Disneyland on January 17) will make guests feel like they’re on a Star Destroyer inside a hangar bay, while “Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run” will give guests the opportunity to fly the Millennium Falcon, piloting the ship, shooting blasters or preparing for hyperspace – all while completing a critical mission. But how you perform on the mission holds even bigger stakes: perform with skill and you may earn extra galactic credits, while bringing the ship back banged up could put you on the list of a bounty hunter. End up on Harkos’s list and you may face a problem if you show up at the local cantina!

Once you go through that phase you bring all the parts to this work station.

This is where you actually construct it, assemble it and screw it together.

The age limit to build one is three years old and up.

This is where you install the personality chip.

The screw driver is all torsion so it's fully safe. You screw some pieces on.

There are other parts at the station that you can clip in to further customize.

This is the remote control, which is pretty basic and easy to figure out.

Once you've built your droid you get to put it in this activation station.

Once you push the red button the panel initiates, which is a good time to think of a name for your droid. We named ours JJ-D2.

The whole process costs around $100 dollars.

While driving your droid around the land is not really allowed, you can get this backpack to carry it with you throughout the day and it will react to things around the land and to other droids.
