For the title character in Don Jon, life is a banquet: cool car, nice pad, steady job, a new honey in the sack every week… and porn. Lots of porn. It’s that more-than-a-little unhealthy addiction to internet skin flicks that keeps Don (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) from being able to truly connect to the new lady in his life, Barbara (Scarlett Johansson). But when he meets a more mature woman (Julianne Moore), their unexpected connection shows him that he can have more.
The versatile star of such recent hits as Looper, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises, Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes his directorial debut with this charming and insightful romantic comedy with a modern twist. We had the opportunity to talk to both him and his stunning co-star Johansson about how Don Jon transcends being a simple screed against pornography, what the film says about women, as well as a few choice quotes about Scarlett’s return as Black Widow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
