It’s been fifteen years since the Wayans Bros. fan-favorite comedy hit White Chicks hit theaters and after a decade of originally trying to get the project off the ground, it appears fans may finally get the sequel they’ve been waiting for as star Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) recently revealed one is still in the works!

In an interview with Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Next” (via Entertainment Weekly), Crews was questioned on whether a sequel would ever happen to the 2004 comedy and the 50-year-old actor confirmed there was indeed one in the works, joking that he was staying in shape strictly for the film.
“I actually got with Shawn [Wayans] and he was like, ‘Man, we’re doing it, we’re getting it going,’” Crews, who portrayed pro basketball player Latrell Spencer, said. “I’ve been working out for 15 years so I can do White Chicks 2, y’all! Please, please.”
The first film, written by three of the Wayans brothers and directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, followed two FBI agents (Shawn & Marlon Wayans) who must go undercover as white women to solve a string of kidnappings in The Hamptons.
In addition to Shawn and Marlon Wayans, the film starred Jaime King (Escape Plan: The Extractors), Busy Phillips (I Feel Pretty), Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter), John Heard (Home Alone), Brittany Daniel (Joe Dirt), Frankie Faison (Hannibal) and Crews.

White Chicks was universally panned by critics for its lowbrow humor, but was loved by audiences, grossing over $113 million at the box office on a $37 million budget and amassing a large cult following in the years since. A sequel was originally ordered in 2009 by Sony but after a lack of serious development was cancelled by the studio in 2014, though Marlon stated in an interview that year that he was still very interested in reprising his role.
