Damon Lindelof is bringing his latest project to HBO in the form of a dramatic series based on Tom Perrotta’s 2011 book “The Leftovers,” and today, Deadline reports that actor Justin Theroux will be the lead in the show’s pilot, which is being directed by Peter Berg (Battleship).
The novel and series is about the people who don’t make the cut after The Rapture with Theroux playing police chief Kevin Garvey, “a father of two who is trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy in a world that is starting to completely reject that notion.”
Theroux previously appeared on HBO with recurring roles on two of their flagship series, “Sex and the City” and “Six Feet Under.”
The pilot was co-written by Lindelof with author Tom Perrotta with Lindelof acting as showrunner and executive producer, along with Perrotta, Ron Yerxa, Albert Berger, Berg and Sarah Aubrey, and Warner Bros. TV producing.
