HBO has released the official trailer for the two-part documentary Leaving Neverland. The film tale of two separate boys, James Safechuck and Wade Robson, who recount their traumatic experiences with pop star Michael Jackson at his famed Neverland ranch, where they allege he sexually abused them as children.

The controversial documentary already made waves when it was screened at the Sundance film festival last month. According to The Guardian, Jackson’s estate sent a 10-page letter to HBO criticizing the film and the studio for not speaking with them first. While some of the singer’s more ardent fans have rallied against the film’s director, Dan Reed, and the two men at the center of the documentary.

Even the critics were shocked, with Variety’s Owen Gleiberman declaring it a “devastating” expose in his review.
“This is not a movie about Michael Jackson,” said director Dan Reed to Variety. “This is not a movie about Michael Jackson abusing little boys. It’s a movie about two families and how two families came to terms with what their sons revealed to them many years after Jackson died.”
Leaving Neverland will premiere on HBO in two parts on March 3 and 4.
