Variety reports that Golden Globe winner Gina Rodriguez is set to star in Bobbie Sue for director Charles Stone III (Uncle Drew). The film was originally going to star Cameron Diaz back when it was first reported as in development in 2009, but that project fell through due to scheduling conflicts. Now, the Jane the Virgin star will add one more project to her ever-growing schedule.

The film follows Sue, a headstrong young lawyer raised in a blue-collar South Boston family, who lands a big case at a law firm, only to discover that she has been hired for optics rather than her understanding of the law. Things are not what they seem as Sue’s client reveals she is trying to cover up exploiting workers within her company, thus leading the titular heroine to take matters into her own hands, “caution and etiquette be damned.”
