There’s a little over two weeks left until the premiere of The Last Ship‘s fifth and final season and TNT has released a full trailer teasing the explosive end to the action series and can be viewed in the player below!
The Last Ship stars Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy), Adam Baldwin (Chuck) and Bridget Regan (Agent Carter). Based on William Brinkley’s popular novel, the series chronicles the aftermath of a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James avoided falling victim to the devastating tragedy. Now, CNO Captain Tom Chandler (Dane) and his crew must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors.
The show has received increasingly better reviews as it’s gone on and has done fairly well in the ratings, averaging almost 2 million live viewers in its fourth season. The series had earned a two-season renewal during its third season, with the announcement the fifth would also be the finale for the show and filming on the fifth season was simultaneous with filming on the fourth season.
The final season of The Last Ship sees the world finally recovering from the virus that nearly decimated the world’s population, but in its wake it has left a lot of political turmoil around the world and Admiral Tom Chandler must save the world once again. The fifth season is set to premiere on TNT on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 9 p.m. EST.
