Today, we have a brand-new trailer for the Netflix film A Futile and Stupid Gesture, from director David Wain. The film is the story of Doug Kenney, who created National Lampoon, Caddyshack and Animal House. A Futile and Stupid Gesture was written by Michael Colton and John Aboud and stars Will Forte, Domhnall Gleeson, Emmy Rossum, Matt Walsh, Natasha Lyonne, Thomas Lennon, Martin Mull, and Joel McHale. Fans of National Lampoon magazine will recognize the joke on the poster from a certain cover that is referenced in the trailer.

A Futile and Stupid Gesture is the story of comedy wunderkind Doug Kenney, who co-created National Lampoon, Caddyshack, and Animal House. Kenney was at the center of the ’70s comedy counter-culture which gave birth to Saturday Night Live and a whole generation’s way of looking at the world.

National Lampoon was created in 1970. Kenney edited the magazine and wrote most of the material in it.
