In the new featurette — which opens similarly to that of a Christmas story — the history of the special is talked about, with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige saying that director James Gunn brought up the idea jokingly before they ended up writing it. Messages from Sean Gunn and Chris Pratt are also given, with Pratt saying that he knows fans are going to love it and will likely be replaying it every year during the holidays.

The special, which will premiere on Disney+ on November 25, 2022, sees the Guardians traveling to Earth during Christmas time. Their goal is to find a gift for Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), who has been upset following Gamora’s disappearance at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
Their plan leads them to Hollywood, where Drax and Mantis go out in search of Kevin Bacon (who is playing himself in the special), an actor Star-Lord has praised in past films.
