Deadline reports that Crouching Tiger star JuJu Chan (Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny) and John Wick 3 actor Mark Dacascos (Hawaii Five-O) have been cast to join Netflix‘s martial arts drama Wu Assassins for recurring roles.
Chan is set to play the role of Zan, a lieutenant in the Triads and elite martial artist while Dacascos’s character is described as a strong monk, who defeats any evil forces that comes along his way.

Wu Assassins is an action crime series that will focus on martial arts with supernatural elements. The series is set in San Francisco’s Chinatown. The action drama also stars Iko Uwais (The Raid: Redemption, Mile 22) as the show’s main character Kai Jin, Byron Mann (Altered Carbon) as Uncle Six, Katheryn Winnick (Vikings) as undercover police officer Christine “C.G.” Gavin, Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) as international crime boss Alec McCullough, Lewis Tan (Into the Badlands) as intelligent leader Lu Xin Lee and Tzi Ma (Meditation Park) as Kai’s mentor Mr. Young. Uwais will also serve as producer and lead martial arts choreographer and stunt coordinator for the series.
Nomadic Pictures Entertainment is producing the 10-episode series which has John Wirth (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles; Falling Skies) set as writer and executive producer. Stephen Fung will direct the first two episodes with additional directors to be announced. Chad Oakes, Mike Frislev (Fargo, Hell on Wheels), and Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures (24) are also the show’s executive producers.
Before Chan went into acting, she was a former Thai boxing champion and was sometimes also referred to as the “Femake Bruce Lee”. Dacascos will be appearing alongside Keanu Reeves and Halle Berry in the upcoming film John Wick 3: Parabellum as the lead villain.
