Marvel Entertainment and ABC have announced that Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has been renewed for a sixth season! The series will return with a shortened episode count according to The Hollywood Reporter, airing just 13 episodes instead of 22. The season five finale of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD airs this Friday on ABC.
Titled “The End” and set to air Friday, May 18, season five finale is officially described as follows: “Coulson’s life or death is the challenge the team finds themselves in, as the wrong decision will cause the destruction of Earth, in the spectacular season finale of ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'”
“The End” was written by Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen and directed by Jed Whedon.

The series was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, who also serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Bell and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.
