Luc Besson is set to direct Jean Dujardin in The French Detective, based on the James Patterson series
ABC has given a put pilot commitment to The French Detective, based on James Patterson‘s Luc Moncrief mysteries. Luc Besson will direct in his TV directorial debut and Jean Dujardin (The Artist) will star in the series. The show comes to us from Besson’s EuropaCorp TV Studios.
The French Detective is written by Bill Collage and Adam Cooper (Assassin’s Creed) and Jonathan Collier (Bones). The show is being called a “light procedural drama” and will tell the story of Parisian detective Luc Moncrief (Dujardin), who joins the NYPD to star a new life. Luc will try to keep his past in the past while solving crimes in New York City. Collage, Cooper and Collier will executive produce with Besson and James Patterson Entertainment’s James Patterson, Leopoldo Gout and Bill Robinson.
The James Patterson series has three books – French Kiss, The Christmas Mystery and French Twist. The Amazon description of French Kiss reads simply, “Very handsome and charming French detective Luc Moncrief joined the NYPD for a fresh start–but someone wants to make his first big case his last.
