Scott Glenn will reprise his role as Stick when Marvel’s Daredevil returns to Netflix in 2016
Not entirely a surprise given the nonlinear nature of the series so far, Marvel has officially announced today that Scott Glenn is set to reprise his role Stick when Marvel’s Daredevil returns to Netflix in 2016 for season two. According to the announcement, Stick will return to Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) life with a new mission that Matt wants no part of.
“After seeing Scott’s performance in the first season, we knew that we had to bring him back for more,” says Executive Producer/Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb. “He is an extraordinary actor and we leapt at the chance to expand on his adventures with Matt and Daredevil.”
“In some ways, Stick is to Marvel’s Daredevil what Scott Glenn has been to film and TV,” adds Executive Producer/Showrunner Marco Ramirez, “a magnetic and awesome force to be reckoned with. It’s an honor to welcome him back, and the Daredevil team can’t wait to unleash Scott’s unique brand of bad-assery upon the world in season two.”
Created by comic writer Frank Miller during his legendary run on the character, Stick was the blind martial artist who taught the young Matt Murdock to turn his remaining senses into the “radar” that would allow him to “see” the world as Daredevil. Though the character didn’t appear in 2003’s Daredevil feature film, he did appear in the 2005 Elektra spin-off, in which Stick was played by none other than the original General Zod himself, Terence Stamp.
Glenn will appear as Stick in three second season episodes. There, he joins returning stars Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Rosario Dawson with Jon Bernthal slated to debut as Frank Castle (aka the Punisher) and Elodie Yung as deadly assassin Elektra Natchios.
“Marvel’s Daredevil” is Executive Produced by Doug Petrie (American Horror Story, Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Marco Ramirez (DaVinci’s Demons) and Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods, Lost), along with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s Jessica Jones.) It is is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios.
Season one of Marvel’s Daredevil is now streaming on Netflix with season two slated to debut in 2016.
