Teen Titans Series to Shoot Pilot Next Year

Back in September, it was revealed that the Teen Titans would be making their way onto TV at TNT in a series simply titled “Titans.” Little has been reported on the series since then, but one fan asked DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns about an update on Twitter to which he replied:

Set to be written by Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haimes, the series is described as centering on Dick Grayson, “who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new Super Heroes including Starfire, Raven and many others.”

The Teen Titans celebrate their 50th anniversary this year, having first appeared in “The Brave and the Bold” #54. A team comprised of young superheroes, the Titans have changed rosters quite a bit in the comics and many younger fans actually know the characters best for their 2003 animated series. More recently, an animated take on the characters aired on Cartoon Network under the title “Young Justice” as well as “Teen Titans Go!”

Should the series continue to move forward, it joins a slate that includes “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Gotham,” “Constantine,” and the in-development “Supergirl” and “Krypton.”
