According to Backstage, production on the upcoming second season of Marvel Studios’ Loki series will start this summer at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom. The filming start comes after a year since the 6-episode first season made its debut in Disney+.

It’s still unclear if head writer Michael Waldron will be returning for Loki Season 2, but director Kate Herron had previously confirmed that she won’t be coming back as she’s already working on her other projects. Meanwhile, Waldron’s next writing projects will be the highly-anticipated Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Kevin Feige’s untitled Star Wars project.
Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Loki Season 1 featured the return of the God of Mischief as he gets arrested by the Time Variance Authority due to the damage he had done with the timeline. The second season will once again be led by Marvel Cinematic Universe vet Tom Hiddleston. It’s still currently unknown if all of the main cast of the first season would also be reprising their roles or not.
Season 1 also starred Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, Owen Wilson as Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Judge Renslayer, and Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15 along with guest appearances from Sasha Lane, Cailey Fleming, Richard E. Grant, DeObia Oparei, Jack Veal, and Jaime Alexander.

Season 1 hails from head writer Michael Waldron and director Kate Herron, who both served as executive producers. All six episodes are now available for streaming on Disney+.
