Rian Johnson interested in directing The Mandalorian season 2 episodes

After sticking it to haters with a certain character and rave reviews with this weekend’s Knives Out, Rian Johnson is ready to return to the Star Wars universe and direct episodes of the already-ordered second season of Disney+’s acclaimed The Mandalorian, according to Cinema Blend.

In an episode of CB’s podcast, ReelBlend, Johnson revealed that despite his The Last Jedi receiving a wildly divided response from fans, he is more than eager to return to a galaxy far, far away, be it the next trilogy he may or may not be attached to or the Disney+ series.

Hell yeah! Man, if I had the time, I would get in there in a heartbeat,” Johnson said. “I had a set visit for Season 1 and it looked amazing. It looked like so much fun!”

There’s been no word on his future with the Lucasfilm franchise, with some considering the lack of news or updates as a sign it’s likely been cancelled alongside the trilogy being developed by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, but fans of the eighth installment are holding out hope his trilogy is still in the works.
