Netflix has released the first trailer for 1922, their upcoming feature-length adaptation of the Stephen King novella, featuring Thomas Jane returning to the world of King after starring in 2007’s The Mist and 2003’s Dreamcatcher. Check it out in the player below!
1922 is based on Stephen King’s 131-page story telling of a man’s confession of his wife’s murder. The tale is told from from the perspective of Wilfred James, the story’s unreliable narrator who admits to killing his wife, Arlette, with his son in Nebraska. But after he buries her body, he finds himself terrorized by rats and, as his life begins to unravel, becomes convinced his wife is haunting him.
Jane stars as Wilfred James along with Molly Parker (Deadwood, House of Cards) as Arlette James, Dylan Schmid (Once Upon a Time, Horns) as Henry James, Kaitlyn Bernard (R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour, The Healer) as Shannon Cotterie, Brian d’Arcy James (Spotlight, Smash) as Sheriff Jones, and Neal McDonough (Captain America: The First Avenger, Legends of Tomorrow) as Harlan Cotterie.
Written and directed by Zak Hilditch (These Final Hours), 1922 will debut exclusively on Netflix on October 20. Another Stephen King adaptation, Gerald’s Game, will debut on September 29 on the streaming service.
