Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg on American Ultra
Fans of Greg Mottola’s 2006 comedy Adventureland may have been wondering, “When are Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart going to be in another movie together?”
After nine years, your question is answered as the two are reunited for the new Lionsgate action-comedy American Ultra, which has Eisenberg playing Mike Howell, a West Virginia stoner living with his girlfriend Phoebe (Stewart) who becomes a target for the CIA who know the truth about him. Turns out that he is a sleeper agent, part of a government program to create the perfect assassin, but now that the head of the program (Topher Grace) wants to end it, they need to clean up loose ends like Mike.
Written by Max Landis (Chronicle) and directed by Nima Nourizadeh (Project X), it’s a quirkier action movie than we’ve seen this summer, mainly because Eisenberg is not your typical action hero, something he’s well aware of.
ComingSoon.net attended the New York junket for the movie where we got to talk to the duo about their decision to work together again. (As it happens, they’ll be working together again as they both appear in Woody Allen’s next movie which will be released in 2016.)
You can watch the interview with Kirsten Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg in the video player below. American Ultra opens nationwide on Friday, August 21 with sneak previews on Thursday night.
