Last year, Warner Bros.’ The LEGO Movie took the world’s love for the Danish building brick toys to a whole new level and a few months later, Kief Davidson and Daniel Junge’s A LEGO Brickumentary premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, offering a comprehensive look at the history of LEGO and how the company has evolved in terms of dealing with their community of Adult Fans of LEGO (or AFOL).
The film covers all the new and different ways LEGO has been used in recent years from the likes of artist Nathan Sawaya (who we’ll have an interview with soon) and the filmmakers both behind The LEGO Movie and innovative stop-motion animated movies. The whole thing is narrated by Jason Bateman, who appears as an animated LEGO minifig himself, which makes the film one of the few docs that can appeal to kids as well as adults.
ComingSoon.net had a chance to sit down with the filmmakers earlier this week for the following video interview in which you can learn what went into making their fun and entertaining doc.
A LEGO Brickumentary opens in select cities and on VOD on Friday, July 31. Look for our recent interview with LEGO artist Daniel Sawaya over on SuperHeroHype very soon.
