Daddy’s Home: Preview Our Visit to the Set of the Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg Comedy

Following the success of Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell in 2010’s The Other Guys, the two actors were looking for something else to work on together for quite a long time. During all of that, Ferrell was also working on developing a film titled Daddy’s Home, which previously had Vince Vaughn attached to star opposite Ferrell. When the film didn’t make it into production at that point, they decided to give it a go with Wahlberg and Ferrell, which is perhaps the best pairing given the film’s subject matter.

ComingSoon.net had the pleasure of visiting the set of Daddy’s Home in New Orleans this past January where we got the opportunity to speak with Wahlberg, Ferrell, and their co-stars Linda Cardellini and Hannibal Buress. The conceit of the film is that Cardellini and Wahlberg’s characters were previously married with kids, and as things go, it didn’t work out. Now, years later, Linda’s character has remarried Brad (Ferrell) which draws the ire of Wahlberg’s dusty.

The scene we saw being shot, which comes later in the film, saw the group coming together in the kitchen after some karate lessons in the garage. It’s a culmination of the full tug of war dilemma between Dusty’s larger-than-life macho presence, and Brad’s kind gentle, fluffy soul. What’s most interesting about it, is that although it appears to be a fully-functioning house, it isn’t. It might feature a yard and have an entirely-decorated first floor, it’s all fake, and it sits in an empty warehouse at NASA. Yes, that NASA.

Check back soon for our full report from the set of Daddy’s Home, including in-depth interviews with the cast and director Sean Anders, very soon. In the meantime, you can watch the first trailer above and check out three Father’s Day-themed e-cards from Daddy’s Home below and send one to your family members by clicking here.

Paramount Pictures and Red Granite Pictures’ Daddy’s Home opens in wide release on Christmas Day of this year.
