It’s been six years since the original Paul Blart: Mall Cop turned out an impressive $183 million at the worldwide box office. Now, we’re less than a month away from the return of Kevin James’ accident-prone hero with Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 set to hit the big screen on April 17. Today, Sony Pictures has released both the first clip and the first TV spot from Blart’s new adventure. In the top player below, you can check out the clip, featuring a conversation between James’ overprotective father and his daughter, Maya (Raini Rodriguez), with the TV spot just below.
In this sequel, Blart, after years of keeping malls safe, has earned a well-deserved vacation. He heads to Las Vegas to attend a Security Guard Expo with his teenage daughter before she departs for college but, while at the convention, he inadvertently discovers a heist. Now it’s up to Blart to apprehend the criminals and, once again, save the day.
Also starring Molly Shannon, David Henrie, Eduardo Verastegui, Nicholas Turturro, Gary Valentine and Neal McDonough, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is directed by She’s the Man and Escape to Witch Mountain helmer Andy Fickman and features a screenplay by James and Nick Bakay.
