Michael Bay’s next project, 6 Underground, has just taken another big step forward with the addition of four new cast members to the film including Dave Franco (The Disaster Artist), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Magnificent Seven), Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim: Uprising) and Corey Hawkins (Kong: Skull Island), according to Variety.
This star-studded list joins Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool 2), who will be leading the project that re-teams him with the Deadpool and Life scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the spec script for the film based on their original idea. The film will mark both Michael Bay nd Reynold’s first collaboration with Netflix, who will be co-financing and distributing the project.
Franco most recently starred in the Netflix original 6 Balloons alongside Abbi Jacobson, which received very positive reviews, and The Disaster Artist, which was produced and directed by his brother James Franco and received rave reviews, earning James a Golden Globe for his performance as Tommy Wiseau (The Room). Hawkins is most notable for his performance as Dr. Dre in the smash 2015 N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton and for his lead role in the short-lived 24 spin-off, Legacy. He can be seen in the upcoming Spike Lee crime comedy BlacKkKlansman.
Arjona is still enjoying the success from her first breakout Hollywood role in the sci-fi blockbuster hit Pacific Rim: Uprising and will be appearing in next year’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s 1990 novel Good Omens for Amazon Prime. Garcia-Rulfo has made appearances in many recent Hollywood blockbusters including the 2016 remake of The Magnificent Seven, last year’s adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel Murder on the Orient Express and this year’s follow-up to the acclaimed 2015 thriller, Sicario: Day of the Soldado.
Filming is slated to begin later this month with a release set for sometime next summer.
