Sony Pictures has updated their release calendar, doing some light shuffling of their late summer/early fall movies for this year and planting flags far in the future.
This year the horror film Slender Man has moved up from August 24 to an August 10 release date with the John Cho-starring thriller Searching moving to a limited release on August 24 and expanding wide on August 31.
For next year though, Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Once Upon A Time in Hollywood has moved up two weeks, previously set for an August 9, 2019 release, the film will now open on July 26, 2019. In addition, the recently confirmed Zombieland 2 will open in theaters on October 11, just over ten years after the first movie premiered in theaters.
Closing out 2019 comes the recently announced Little Women movie from Academy Award nominated director Greta Gerwig. Little Women will open on Christmas day of 2019.
FInally, the long in-development adaptation of Valiant Comics’ Bloodshoot will open in theaters on February 21, 2020. The film stars Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious series, xXx series) in the title role with Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Sam Heughan (Outlander), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Michael Sheen (Tron Legacy), Talulah Riley (Westworld) and Alex Hernandez (Unreal). Bloodshot is scheduled to begin production this July, with a script written by Academy Award nominated writer Eric Heisserer (Arrival, The Thing), and featuring Dave Wilson as director.
Created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton, Bloodshot tells the story of a former soldier killed and brought back to life with technological upgrades, filling his body with billions of nanobots. This allows him to be the perfect soldier by healing from injuries, shapeshift, and even interact with technology.
