Black Panther’s Joe Robert Cole to Direct All Day and a Night for Netflix

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Black Panther co-writer Joe Robert Cole will direct his second feature with the upcoming crime drama All Day and a Night for Netflix. Cole previously wrote and directed the thriller Amber Lake.

The film, also written by Cole, will follow a young criminal after his arrival in prison as he looks back on the days preceding his arrest and the circumstances of his childhood to find clues to his way forward in life and his survival, and will take place across three parallel narratives. The drama will be co-produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, who previously worked with Cole on FX’s The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story and the upcoming romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians, as well as Jared Ian Goldman, who produced The Punisher for Netflix.

All Day and a Night marks the second deal Netflix has made with Cole following the acquisition of his adaptation of the Vault Comics project “Failsafe” about a man who hunting down genetically-engineered soldiers, in which Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan is set as the lead for the film.
