How to Train Your Dragon 3 casts F. Murray Abraham as the villain
Academy Award-winning actor F. Murray Abraham (Homeland, Amadeus) has joined the voice cast of the upcoming DreamWorks Animation film How to Train Your Dragon 3, according to Deadline. Abraham will play the villain Grimmel in the final story in the How to Train Your Dragon series. Abraham will reportedly not have a Scottish accent in the film.
The much-anticipated continuation of one of the most beloved animated film franchises in history, How to Train Your Dragon 3 begins as Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) fulfills his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless’ discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away. When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind.
Series director Dean DeBlois returns alongside the franchise’s all-star cast which includes Jay Baruchel (Million Dollar Baby, This Is the End), America Ferrera (Ugly Betty, End of Watch), Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones, Pompeii) and Cate Blanchett (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Thor: Ragnarok). DeBlois will write the feature and Bonnie Arnold and Brad Lewis will produce.
How to Train Your Dragon 3 will hit theaters on March 1, 2019. The first two films in the franchise received Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Feature and the first film was nominated for Best Original Score.
F. Murray Abraham is known for his work in Scarface, The Grand Budapest Hotel and the TV series Homeland. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for the role of Antonio Salieri in the film Amadeus (1984). He’ll also voice the role of Jupiter in the upcoming Wes Anderson film Isle of Dogs.
