Last week, we got a first look at Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean on the set of Tom Hooper’s Les Miserables (check out the original photo by clicking here). Now, Jackman himself has taken to Twitter to share a clearer, close-up image that shows off Valjean’s prisoner beard.
“Very excited about how the first days of filming are going!!” the actor writes. “Check out my convict look…but its changing soon.”
Jackman stars opposite Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit and Samantha Barks.
In turn based on Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel, the hit Broadway musical by Claude-Michel Schönberg opened in 1985, beginning one of the longest runs for a musical ever. Set against the backdrop of the 19th Century French rebellion, the musical has been adapted for the screen by William Nicholson.
Les Miserables is scheduled to hit theaters on December 15, 2012.
