The Pablo Schreiber-led comedy Big Bear has a release date
The upcoming comedy Big Bear starring Pablo Schreiber (American Gods, Orange Is the New Black) has gotten a release date, according to Variety. The film will reportedly hit theaters and VOD on September 22, 2017. The film also stars Joey Kern (Super Troopers, Good Behavior), Adam Brody (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The O.C.), Tyler Labine (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Tucker and Dale vs Evil), Zachary Knighton (Happy Endings, The Prince and Me) and Toby Huss (King of the Hill, Cowboys & Aliens). Kern will also direct, and Big Bear marks his directorial debut.
Big Bear will be produced by MTY Productions in association with Fortress Features. Kern also wrote the script and will produce alongside Luke Edwards, and Brandon Evans, Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizzotti from Fortress Features. In Big Bear, Kern’s character gets dumped by his fiancée for Schreiber whom she was cheating with. His friends (Brody, Labine and Knighton) convince him to go up to Big Bear Lake for his bachelor party anyway. The next morning, they find Schreiber’s character tied up by his friends in the basement.
Joey Kern is known for his work in the film Super Troopers and the TV series Good Behavior. Pablo Schreiber played the role of Mad Sweeney in the Starz series American Gods, based on the novel by Neil Gaiman. He also played “Porn Stache” in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black.
According to Deadline, Blue Fox Entertainment picked up the rights to Big Bear. It will be the first U.S. theatrical release for Blue Fox’s new distribution banner.
