According to Deadline, actress Neve Campbell (the Scream movies, House of Cards) has signed on to co-star in Universal Pictures and Legendary’s Skyscraper, a major action tentpole led by superstar Dwayne Johnson (Furious 7, San Andreas). The film, which will reteam Johnson with his Central Intelligence director Rawson Marshall Thurber, will bow on Friday, July 13, 2018.
Global icon Dwayne Johnson leads the cast of Legendary’s Skyscraper as former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran Will Ford, who now assesses security for skyscrapers. On assignment in China he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he’s been framed for it. A wanted man on the run, Will must find those responsible, clear his name and somehow rescue his family who is trapped inside the building…above the fire line.
Written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Central Intelligence, We’re the Millers), the 3D action-thriller is produced by Beau Flynn (San Andreas, Baywatch), Johnson and Thurber. Skyscraper’s executive producers are Dany Garcia (Baywatch, Ballers) and Hiram Garcia (San Andreas, Central Intelligence). Wendy Jacobson (San Andreas) is co-producer.
Campbell came to fame in the ’90s on FOX’s Party of Five, then as the lead in all four of Wes Craven’s Scream movies, as well as the erotic thriller Wild Things. Her most recent claim to fame was playing the role of Leann Harvey on two seasons of Netflix’s House of Cards.
