CBS Films announced today that Blake Lively (The Shallows, The Age of Adeline) will executive produce and star in the theatrical motion picture adaptation of The Husband’s Secret. Based on the acclaimed bestselling novel by Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies), the adaptation is being produced by Chris Weitz, Paul Weitz and Andrew Miano via their Depth of Field production shingle along with Lively.
The Husband’s Secret was published by Amy Einhorn Books and quickly became a #1 New York Times Bestseller. Here’s the official synopsis:
Imagine that your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death. Imagine, too, that the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret—something with the potential to destroy not just the life you built together, but the lives of others as well. Imagine, then, that you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive…
Cecilia Fitzpatrick has achieved it all—she’s an incredibly successful businesswoman, a pillar of her small community, and a devoted wife and mother. Her life is as orderly and spotless as her home. But that letter is about to change everything, and not just for her: Rachel and Tess barely know Cecilia—or each other—but they too are about to feel the earth-shattering repercussions of her husband’s secret.
“Liane Moriarty has established herself as one of the defining voices of the modern woman and Blake Lively’s unique combination of vulnerability, strength and extraordinary talent makes her the perfect actress to realize Moriarty’s creation,” commented Terry Press, President, CBS Films. Lively will play Cecilia Fitzpatrick, a busy wife, mother and chronic perfectionist who inadvertently discovers that her husband has been keeping a secret from her for years…a secret that leads her to realize that her life is built on a foundation of lies and murder.
