Netflix has acquired the global rights from IAC Films to director Noah Baumbach’s upcoming film, The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected). The film will premiere in select theaters and everywhere Netflix is available in late 2017.
Written and directed by Baumbach, the film stars Adam Sandler (Punch-Drunk Love, Funny People), Ben Stiller (Tropic Thunder, Greenberg), Dustin Hoffman (The Cobbler, Little Fockers), Elizabeth Marvel (Homeland, House of Cards), Grace Van Patten (Tramps, Stealing Cars) and Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks, Beauty and the Beast), and is the intergenerational tale of adult siblings contending with the influence of their aging father.
“Noah Baumbach is an important voice in American filmmaking and his films are always highly anticipated around the world. Noah is among the filmmakers that we were eager to work with, and I know that film enthusiasts everywhere will be as moved by this film as we were,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer. “We’re thrilled to be the avenue by which global audiences will be able to see the film.”
The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) is produced by Scott Rudin, Baumbach, Lila Yacoub and Eli Bush.
Baumbach is an award-winning writer, director and producer. His credits include Kicking and Screaming, The Squid and the Whale, Margot at the Wedding, Greenberg, Frances Ha, While We’re Young and Mistress America. Baumbach received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay for The Squid and The Whale.
