Sully star Tom Hanks is next planning Greyhound, a World War II drama
Just as Warner Bros. Pictures releases to theaters the Academy Award winner’s latest, Sully, Variety reports that Tom Hanks is now lining up a new project in the World War II drama Greyhound. According to the trade, Greyhound is an original project scripted by Hanks and could potentially provide a starring role for the actor as well. The storyline is said to focus on a Naval commander who is put in charge a new ship, the Greyhound. There, he’s forced to deal with both enemy fire and inner conflict.

Set up at Hanks’ Playtone Productions, Greyhound is being developed alongside Get Low’s Aaron Schneider. Hanks’ Playtone partner Gary Goetzman is set to produce.
Sully, meanwhile, is in theaters now and tells the life story of “Miracle on the Hudson” Captain Sully Sullenberger. Directed by Clint Eastwood, Sully also stars Aaron Eckhart (Olympus Has Fallen, The Dark Knight) as Sully’s co-pilot, Jeff Skiles, and Oscar nominee Laura Linney (The Savages, Kinsey) as Sully’s wife, Lorraine Sullenberger.

Sully features a screenplay by Todd Komarnicki, based on the book Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters, by Sullenberger himself and Jeffrey Zaslow. The project, A Malpaso, Flashlight Films, Kennedy/Marshall Company production, was produced by Eastwood, Frank Marshall, Allyn Stewart and Tim Moore, with Kipp Nelson serving as executive producer.
