Jurassic World Sequel to be Directed by J.A. Bayona!

Jurassic World sequel to be directed by J.A. Bayona

It was previously reported that The Impossible director J.A. Bayona was in contention to direct the Jurassic World sequel, but due to commitments with World War Z it seemed unlikely to happen. Now, following Bayona’s departure from the film, Universal Studios has confirmed that he will be stepping behind the camera for the 2018 release.

Bayona’s other works include the 2007 horror film The Orphanage, two episodes of the Showtime series Penny Dreadful, and the upcoming film A Monster Calls.

Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly will once again pen the script for the Jurassic World sequel, though Trevorrow will not return to direct, opting to journey to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: Episode IX. He previously revealed the quote from the original Jurassic Park that inspired their idea for the sequel, which comes from Sam Neil’s Alan Grant: “Dinosaurs and man, two species separated by 65 million years of evolution have just been suddenly thrown back into the mix together. How can we possibly have the slightest idea what to expect?” Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will both reprise their roles for the film.

Frank Marshall and Steven Spielberg will produce the film again which is set for release on June 22, 2018. Released in 2015, Jurassic World brought in over $650 million at the domestic box office and over $1.6 billion worldwide.
