Lucasfilm has announced today the start of their 2016 Star Wars: Force for Change campaign, offering fans the chance to win a signed Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-ray or the grand prize of a trip to Ireland, where the lucky winner will visit Skellig Michael, the key location from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens finale. Production continues on the still-untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is written and directed by Rian Johnson and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The first video released at the start of production even saw the return to Skellig Michael. The film welcomes back cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.
Star Wars: Episode VIII is scheduled for release December 15, 2017 but this year will see the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story from director Gareth Edwards on December 16.
