Jaume Collet-Serra to reunite with Liam Neeson for The Commuter
According to Deadline, Lionsgate and StudioCanal have finally nailed down a director for their Liam Neeson suspense thriller The Commuter, and he’s someone who’s been in the Neeson business for a long time now: Jaume Collet-Serra. Best known for his recent trilogy of Neeson thrillers (Unknown, Non-Stop, Run All Night), Serra is looking to expand the future box set of his collaborations with the star in a movie that sounds a lot like Non-Stop on a commuter train.
In The Commuter, Neeson will play a businessman whose daily commute home gets him caught up in a criminal conspiracy as he learns of a deadly plan unfolding on the train.
Nigerian director Olatunde Osunsanmi (The Fourth Kind) was previously attached to the film, which was written by Byron Willinger and Phil de Blasi. The Picture Company’s Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman are producing the film, with Serra executive producing along with his Ombra Films partner Juan Sola.
Serra is currently in post on the Sony shark attack survival thriller The Shallows (formally titled “In the Deep”), starring Blake Lively.
