Has Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum been revealed?
Production continues on Marvel’s Doctor Strange, and Marvel co-president Marvel Louis D’Esposito posted a photo revealing one of the sets from the film. A quick examination of the photo reveals the door in the background has the Seal of the Vishanti, meaning that this location could be Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, or perhaps the home of his mentor The Ancient One.
In addition, the artifact in front of the door bears a striking resemblance to the Eye of Agamotto, an artifact that the good Doctor used to defeat Dormammu in the source material. Check out the image below and sound off with your own theories in the comments!
Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead with Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) as Baron Mordo, Tilda Swinton (Only Lovers Left Alive) as The Ancient One and, in undisclosed roles, Rachel McAdams (The Vow), Michael Stuhlbarg (Pawn Sacrifice), Scott Adkins (The Bourne Ultimatum), Amy Landecker (“Transparent”), and Mads Mikkelsen (“Hannibal”).
Scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016, Doctor Strange is scripted by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, Passengers) and directed by Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver Us From Evil). It is said to follow the story of neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
