We saw tough drama than some sort of Fifty Shades sex romp.
Speaking of… next up is yet another new Nicholas Sparks adaptation, this one is called The Choice starring Alexandra Daddario, Teresa Palmer, Maggie Grace, Tom Welling, Benjamin Walker and even Tom Wilkinson. PG-13 rating for this one… naturally. Oh, yeah, and guess where it takes place… If you said a “small coastal town”, pat yourself on the back.
A couple animated titles are on the board this week with Hotel Transylvania 2, which earned a PG and a G-rating for The Peanuts Movie, which may or may not be where we see the next Ice Age short film, Cosmic Scrat-Tastrophe, which also received a G-rating today… and will most likely be used to help promote Ice Age: Collision Course, which was just dated for July 22, 2016.
Oh, wait, yeah, one more animated film in The Weinstein Co.’s Underdogs, which was supposed to hit theaters this week but was pulled at the last minute. No idea when it will ever be released, but it has a rating when that day comes.
Finally we have a pair of likely Oscar contenders in Freeheld starring Julianne Moore and Ellen Page and Spotlight. The former landed a PG-13 rating and the latter an R, and I expect I’ll be seeing both at the Toronto Film Festival next month.
