I mentioned in my review of Furious 7 (read the review here) how 2 Fast 2 Furious just might be my favorite movie in the entire Fast franchise. In fact, I went so far as to write, “By the way, what’s the deal with not bringing Eva Mendes back and isn’t Carter Verone (Cole Hauser) out of jail yet?” Well, it appears I may have hit on something.
We already know Fast & Furious 8 will be heading to New York with Kurt Russell‘s character expected to return, but a new rumor from Latino-Review.com scooper El Mayimbe suggests the story will depend on whether or not they can get Eva Mendes back as U.S. Customs Agent Monica Fuentes.
Mendes made a brief appearance in the Fast Five credits alongside Dwayne Johnson, but she hasn’t been seen or heard from since. As far as my curiosity as to the whereabouts of 2 Fast villain Carter Verone, at this point in the game, Verone seems like too small a player for the Fast & Furious crew, but I guess he could serve as the lynchpin into taking down an even bigger group of world renowned gangsters.
Add to all of this the report that Lucas Black signed on for not only Furious 7, but also for Fast and Furious 8 and 9 her wish and be added to the Furious fold.
