Jennifer Lawrence will star in the romantic dramedy The Rosie Project
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook, The Hunger Games) is attached to star in the romantic dramedy The Rosie Project for Columbia Pictures.
Based on Graeme Simsion’s book of the same name, The Rosie Project will follow a genetics professor with low social skills who develops a survey to find his ideal mate, until he meets Rosie Jarman (Lawrence), a woman with the exact opposite qualities he’s looking for.
The studio is currently on the lookout for a new director since Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The LEGO Movie, 22 Jump Street) were originally in line to make the film before Lucasfilm signed them up for the currently untitled Star Wars Anthology Han Solo movie.
Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber ((500) Days of Summer) wrote the screenplay for The Rosie Project, with Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan producing.
Columbia (Sony) is getting into the Jennifer Lawrence business in a big way after also shelling out a hefty fee for her to co-star with Chris Pratt in the sci-fi love story Passengers. Of course, Lawrence also has the November sequel The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 as well as next summer’s blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse.
