Apparently Joaquin Phoenix (Her, Inherent Vice) and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron) are also said to be circling the adaptation of Austin Wright’s 1993 novel “Tony and Susan.”
The book tells the tale of a the title woman who receives a novel manuscript from her ex-husband of 20-years called “Nocturnal Animals,” which details a family vacation turned deadly, leading Susan to recall dark truths about herself and her first marriage.
Smokehouse Pictures partners George Clooney and Grant Heslov, who won the Best Picture Oscar for Argo, will produce Nocturnal Animals. They have a first-look deal at Sony, although no studio is currently attached.
Amy Adams just finished reprising her role as Lois Lane in Zack Snyder’s 2016 blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and is set to reunite with American Hustle co-star Jeremy Renner in the sci-fi drama Story of Your Life (Arrival). Gyllenhaal has the adventure Everest, boxing film Southpaw and the drama Demolition all in post-production.
