Walt Disney Animation Studios will be bringing Frozen‘s Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf back to the big screen for a brand new short film, Frozen Fever, set to premiere before screenings of director Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming Cinderella, which hits theaters on March 13. Now, we have our first look at adorable new characters the snowgies, which you can see on the new poster (via Yahoo!) in our gallery below!
Producer Peter Del Vecho said the characters, which spring out of Elsa’s sneezes, started out as “mini Olafs” until they realized they “wanted Olaf to remain pure, so quickly it evolved into these fun little snowballs we call ‘snowgies’ that bring a lot of mischief and fun to the short.”
In Frozen Fever, it’s Anna’s birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa’s icy powers may put more than just the party at risk.
Directed by the returning Frozen pair of Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, and produced by the returning Peter Del Vecho, Frozen Fever also boasts an all-new original song by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
Frozen Fever marks the first project reuniting the Oscar-winning original team from the animated hit, although recent reports have hinted that a full sequel may also be on the way. At this time, however, Disney has officially announced no such plans.
Cinderella, meanwhile, offers a live-action take on Disney’s animated classic with a cast that includes Lily James, Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, Stellan Skarsgård, Derek Jacobi, Nonso Anozie, Holliday Grainger, Richard Madden and Sophie McShera.
