Deadline reports that The LEGO Movie producer Roy Lee and The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay will produce a feature version of the hit Cartoon Network series “Adventure Time” for Warner Bros. Series creator Pendleton Ward will reportedly be involved in writing and producing the film as well, along with Cartoon Network Studios.
Currently in its sixth season, with a seventh on the way, “Adventure Time” tells the story of Finn the human and his best friend Jake the (shape shifting) dog who battle monsters and save princesses on the mystical island of Ooo. The series features a large collection of supporting characters including Princess Bubblegum, The Ice King, Marceline the Vampire Queen, Lumpy Space Princess, Earl of Lemongrab, and countless others.
A number of high profile celebrities have previously lent their voice to “Adventure Time” including Neil Patrick Harris, Mark Hamill, Ming-Na Wen, George Takei, Lena Dunham, Ron Perlman, Kristen Schaal, and Lou Ferrigno, A TV film of the series was previously in development before the show’s fifth season, but was canceled.
