Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have announced today release dates for three upcoming projects including their untitled comedy from writer-director Garth Jennings (Son of Rambow, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy), Despicable Me 3 and Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Said to be an original animated comedy event about courage, competition and carrying a tune, Jenning’s untitled feature will hit theaters December 21, 2016. It will be produced by Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy.
Despicable Me 3 then arrives on June 30, 2017 from the team who brought you Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2. No specific details have been revealed outside the fact that the film will follow the adventures of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters Margo, Edith and Agnes and the Minions.
Finally, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas offers a newly-imagined version of the enduring holiday classic. Set for release on November 17, 2017, it will be directed by Pete Candeland and will feature an adapted screenplay by Michael LeSieur. The film will be produced by Meledandri and Healy and executive produced by Audrey Geisel.
