Big Trouble in Little China Remake: The Rock in Talks to Star

In what looks to be fifth John Carpenter film to be remade (with Escape from New York always looming), Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is in negotiations to star in a new iteration of Big Trouble in Little China, written by X-Men: First Class’ Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.

The Wrap reports Johnson would play Jack Burton, the dopey, all-American arrogant trucker made so beloved by Kurt Russell in 1986. Russell starred in the original film with Kim Cattrall and James Hong. That film saw Burton get entangled in a mystical battle in San Francisco’s Chinatown and has become a touchstone and favorite for so many.

Undeniably, The Rock has that unreal charm and an action/comedy of Big Trouble in Little China‘s heights and personality could be the perfect fit for the performer. Can a remake reach them?

Both Kurt Russell The Rock recently appeared in Furious 7, but sadly did not share any screentime.
