Nicole Jones-Dion’s sci-fi psychodrama Stasis reveals an exclusive clip
The concept of time travel has been a psychotronic sci-fi staple since H.G. Wells’ first penned The Time Machine. Perhaps even beyond that. And that’s no surprise as the idea of being able to fast forward and rewind your life and world events is irresistible, with potentially horrific results. Remember the Ray Bradbury tale A Sound of Thunder? Where minor changes to a landscape or ecosystem during time travel could forever alter the course of earthly events and human history? Brilliant and mind bending….
Adding to popular riffs on dark time travel fiction like The Terminator and 12 Monkeys by way of paranoid sci-fi horror like Invasion of the Body Snatchers is writer/director Nicole Jones-Dion’s stylish, sinister science fiction psychodrama Stasis. The film stars Anna Harr, Mark Grossman, Phyllis Spielman and Tiana Masaniai and will be available on VOD and iTunes from XLrator Media on August 29th
Synopsis: After a night out partying and being left behind by friends, Ava sneaks back home to find that she’s already safe in bed. But that’s not Ava… it’s someone who looks like her. A time-traveling fugitive has stolen Ava’s body, which makes Ava a virtual ghost, who is silent and invisible to the world. But Ava is not alone. There are other body snatchers secretly living among us, plotting to alter the future. Ava realizes she can stop these body snatchers and put the timeline back on course.
Not that gender has much of an impact on good filmmaking, but it certainly is refreshing to see a female visionary delving into the the traditionally male-dominated science fiction movie fold. What say you? Will you be giving Jones-Dion’s Stasis a spin? Check out the exclusive clip from the movie below to whet yer weird whistle…
