They weren't really anything we haven't seen already... That's why neither Diablo or myself put them up. This thread will stay open until the games release, don't worry.

Did anyone get bored when watching the trailer? I think it was too long, too boring, and the music sucked. The game looks AWSOME tho.

nope.. lol, I keep watching that trailer over and over again, I own it on dvd (From new PSM article), and IMO the music didn't suck *shrugs* I love that music...

The Sons of Liberty theme rocks. I especially liked it when they used it in SoL after E.E. died. One of the best scenes in video game history.

Yeah I agree, and I liked how they used the music in the trailer, at the end when Snake gets beat by Thunderbolt and him talking about Defecting and stuff.. awesomeness.

Some news on voice actors...
The word so far is...
Hayter is back.
Quinton Flynn was supposed to come back, but missed the casting call.
And I checked around with some of the other voice actors, who aren't returning, ala Phil LaMarr and Cam Clarke -- and Paul Eiding has been out of town forever which most likely means he won't be back either. And Kris Zimmerman wouldn't tell me if Patric Zimmerman was back to do Ocelot, which means he most likely will be, considering he said they told him about MGS3 and the character he would be voicing before hand.
I got this from IGN, the guy who posted it does interview and has a good 'connection' with Kris Zimmerman (The person who casts for English version of MGS)

Interview with Kojima
It was taken from a french site and a guy from p-mgs translated it, I'm directly quoting him.. here it goes
"Okay here is a full translation done by me.
()= the interviewers coments)
[]= my coments to correct the interviewers coments or question....(lol)
Playmag:after we've seen the trailer and played the demo, MGS3 seems really unbelievable, where are you in development?(directed to Kojima San)
Kojima: We're done with the jungle's elements, we only have to put the story into the game. In brief we only have to put our ideas in place.
PM:what did you like the most in the developement?
HK: The survival trip we've done with Mr Mori (military advisor)in which we had to survive.
PM: the game's theme is to live [mmm I think they meant survive] do you have more details on that?
HK:the game's main idea is to put the player in the jungle, to make them feel like in a jungle,we're hungry, we're sick, we're tired...That's a live experience, a survival experience. the demo is about 1 hour and a half, at the end Snake must be really hungry....like every player who play the game, identification to snake is then bigger.
PM: why changing a winning formula(all the survival elements and lacks of technology to help snake in his mission)
HK:It is too simple to copy the old system and modify only the story around the main game (cough!pandora tomorowcough!) there is nothing fun in doing so...we innovate. Even if it is a sequel, the gameplay is changed and some other small things too...
PM: you mean like the CQC that take the place of the former punch, punch, kick?
HK: no, both fighting system are in and it is the player's choice to use one or the other according to the game situations.(tsss this game makes me crazy
PM: why coming back to past? and not continue after MGS2?
HK: MGS= tactical espionage action game, a "spy" game, so I wanted the character to be like a secret agent, like James Bond. Today tactical teams like SWAT or SEALs do all the work, so I obviously had to go in the past and the cold war era was perfect for a "spy" game. USA and USSR sent many spy in each other's country. An other reason is that the more we go in the future to more the technology had to be there, I wanted to change that for that game, I wanted snake to rely less on technology and use his body as a weapon and not to use too many gadgets.
PM:Do you have more details on the trailer (E3 2004)? The Colonel, the two ladies?
HK: No, the game will come out in a couple of months, it's to early to reveal anything.... But a bad guy who looks like a bad guy...IS a bad guy
PM:You say you do not want too much technology but why are there flying modules?
HK: USA and USSR really tryed to develop those kind of things in the 60's.
PM: for the environment design? Still Lego?
HK: No, too much work, we created a new tool.... the legos are used by the Boktai team now...(lol)
PM:You kinda infered that MGS3 would be your last MGS project? Is that true?
HK: Well, there WILL be a MGS4 but I will not really direct it, no more design, no more script... Around that time I'll do something really different. "

Something I found on the GameFAQs boards in relation to Big Boss turning "evil," I thought it was a good theory:
"I have a feeling he never turned 'evil'. The same way Solidus was made out to look evil in MGS2 by the Patriots, I think that's what happened to Big Boss. The Patriots screwed him over so he turned his back on the US. Then the Patriots altered the facts to make him look like a terrorist."

Metal Gear Solid 3 hitting Japan in October?
Japanese retailer says two editions of Snake Eater will be released across the Pacific in just over two months.
TOKYO--According to Japanese video game retailer Game Ichibankan, Konami will release Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater during the fall in Japan. The retailer lists two editions of the PlayStation 2 game on its sales schedule for release in October, which includes a normal 6,980 yen ($63) package and a limited edition that costs 12,800 yen ($116). There are no details about what will be included in the limited edition.
If true, the Snake Eater release plans would echo those of the Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, which was released in Japan in November 2001. That game also had a limited-edition package, priced at 9,800 yen ($88), which included a 72-page, full-color booklet, a premium disc, and a Solid Snake action figure.
Currently, Konami's official stance is that Metal Gear Solid 3 will be released sometime in 2004 in both Japan and America. For more details on Metal Gear Solid 3, check GameSpot’s hands-on preview.

Great trailer. Hm... I don't think there are two time periods, I think Snake ( Big Boss ) has gotten the **** kicked out of him and then recovered and gone back. The "Commenceing Operation Snake Eater," line is just being played over the wrong scene. Scott Menville I think is the voice of Young Ocelot, so he has a bigger role than I expected. Only one thing bothered me; shouldn't Thunderbolt and Solokov ( the Scientist ) have Russian accents?

RUMOR #1: GameStop will hand out a Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater demo to anyone who preorders the game.
Source: The Gaming Age forums.
The official story: "We will not be releasing any MGS3 demos at any GameStops."--Konami spokesperson.
What we heard: Early this week, several people claiming to be employees of GameStop posted messages saying there was a listing in the retailer's database for a "Metal Gear Solid 3 Konami demo 8/26/04." This set off a wave of speculation that a demo of Snake Eater could be in gamers' hands as early as tomorrow. But Hideo Kojima fans will be crestfallen to hear it just simply isn't true. "We're planning a demo disc with multiple Konami games--but no Snake Eater," a company rep told GameSpot. Also, the disc will likely be handed out along with preorders of any M-rated Konami game, not just MGS3. Furthermore, the rumor's timing is also apparently off. "It won't be out this month," said the rep.
Bogus or not bogus?: Bogus.
RUMOR #2: Dave Chappelle will voice a character in Metal Gear Solid 3.
Source: The usually useful Internet Movie Database.
The official story: "Dave Chappelle will not be in MGS3."--Konami spokesperson.
What we heard: One of the most persistent rumors on the Web is that comedian Dave Chappelle will be part of the voice cast for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. So it was with some surprise, then, that we noticed this week that Chappelle's filmography on the Internet Movie Database listed him as part of another high-profile PlayStation 2 game--Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. According to IMDB, Chappelle will play a supporting character named Mr. Sigint in MGS3. The site offered no other information on the role--most probably because Chappelle will not actually appear in Snake Eater. "The information they have on the site is false," a Konami rep bluntly said. Good luck silencing those San Andreas murmurs, though.
Bogus or not bogus?: Bogus.

Im just haveing a hard time beleaveing that this is snake we will be playing as in SE... Cuz didnt MGS actully take place after the year 2000? Im pretty sure I heard something bout that...if thats true... and SE takes place in the 60's, snake would not be that old yet... cuz i think hes in his mid 40's when MGS takes place.. so it almost has to be Big Boss.. OR MAYBE... ITS SOLIDUS SNAKE!!! cuz in MGS 2, he's really old, but in his prime, he probley looked like snake did..........

If SE is a prequal to all the MGS games, that means that this is snakes first mission before he joins foxhound, and from looking at him in SE, he has to be at least in his mid 20's early 30's at least.. then after SE, he would do all those other missions (outer heaven, Zanzibar ect.), then retire to alaska, then come back for MGS, then MGS2 SOMETIME after that, then 2 yrs later show up at the big shell, and doesent look at all different from the "snake" in SE. So it almost HAS to be someone other than solid snake in SE.

Yeah, its most likely that the SNAKE is not SOLID, more likely Big Boss.... and the group isn't FOXHOUND in this game since Big Boss created that group, this group is called FOX, i'm thinking that Biggy is in this group and gets the idea of FOXHOUND from FOX...

Yeah... and with the conclusion of that trailer.. I have 2 theories... either there are 2 Snakes... or... there are 2 parts in this game with One Snake=Big Boss...
Nope. I think it's obvious, "Snake" or Big Boss, goes on his first mission via Halo jump like we saw in the intro video. He gets Sokolov, takes him to the bridge, Thunderbolt and the Boss come, Sokolov gets picked up by the bee's, and Snake and The Boss fight. Snake's arm and ribs get broken, he's chucked into the river but he first manages to grab bosses bandana. Notice how at times he has the bandanna and at others he doesn't. Well on the Second entrance possibly just weeks later, he's wearing it, so all the times he's wearing one is his second mission. So on his second mission he gets launched out of the MIG-21, and tries to find the escape pod possibly for an item or a bag of his. He see's the boss, she beats the hell out of him and blows up the escape pod. She gets her little pony to stomp on his hand and jets out of there. Enter the rest of the game here. So only one character, 2 missions.

No, no Diablo. Remember what that guy said in the trailer where Snake asks the guy in charge of the mission if it was the end of FOX and the guy says something about this hound being a step ahead of FOX. Hence the word FOXHOUND.
:)
Yeah, Big Boss gets the name from somewhere from his first group FOX.. atleast thats what I think, watch it be totally off :(

Im not saying I didnt like vamp at all.. I love vamp.. But when u have to kill a guy over and over and over again, it got kinda ridiclous. I like the fact that konami isent afraid to put characters that have some kind of super paranormal power.. for example.. (Psycho Mantis, Vulcan Raven, and of course vamp) but when u fought them one on one by themselves, (psycho mantis when u fight him, and vulcan without his tank) u killed them.. vamp should have died in that room where u fight him.. instead of bringing him back just to kill emma..and his character didnt make alot of sense either.. he had to drink blood to stay alive when he was young in that accident, so he automatically becomes a vampire who can run, hover, and sit on water and come back to life after you kill him???

Let's just say he's not human. I remember Snake saying "It's running on water". "It" is a thing right? But sadly..I don't see Vamp in the end following RoseMary and Jack.( What the hell is he? ) And yes it was kind of annoying to fight his arse over and over again. Though I did love it when we had to take him down with a Sniper Rifle. Classic. :D

I just got an issue of Playstation magizine, and they had a section on MGS 3.. and it sounds like there is a very good chance that the game will be split into 2 parts.. I will type the article...
(After all, press mostly showed and coverd the "Tanker" part of MGS2, and many gamers around the world were shocked when the "Plant" missions started, and started with a blond hair youth instead of snake. Kojima promises that there is NOT a time machine in MGS3, but that does not negate the possibitillity of MGS3 jumping between the 1960's and now, especially in light of the tag line "Snake must revist the past, to save the future." There's word of yet another crazy twist that comes up early in the game, much like Raiden and the Plant in MGS2. Until then, all we have is some cool fellow named "Snake" sneaking around Russia int he '60s to prevent the first Metal Gear from becoming operational)

The Tokyo Game Show trailer is online, it's in Japanese and introduces the Cobra members. Oh, and the TGS trailer is only avalible at Gamespot right now, and I'm not a member :(.

Basicly:
-Opens with the Ghost-Snake landing, only he is without face-paint this time.
-Shots of Snake in a jail-cell, poping his arms back into place. He is missing an eye.
-Montage of Snake and The Boss fighting, Snake is beaten in all of the fights.
-Boss' revealed, The Pain, The Fury, The Fear, The Sorrow, The End.
-Snake talking to a Solider outside of the jail-cell, the Solider shows Snake a picture of something.
-Montage of Snake, Eva and The Boss to the Sons of Liberty Theme, Snake is being tortured by what looks like The Boss. Eva and Snake embrace, I couldn't make out if they were kissing. Eva in a black bra and panties.
-MGS3: SE title, followed by Ocelot with two Revolvers. He and Snake talk, and are at a standoff, before it fades to black Ocelot says what I imagine is "Draw!"
-Eva and Snake on a bike, being followed by Metal Gear. Thunderbolt is driving it, and before it fades to another scene Thunderbolt says very loudly, like Liquid did, "Snake!"
-An in-joke of sorts, Snake hidding behind a tree and then turning to whistle out to some Apes from Ape Escape.
-And finally, we see the Raiden-lookalike walking and then turning to wink at the screen before it cuts to the MGS: SE title. The end.

Alright, I saw it... Awesome. Theres alot of reading though, but you can tell the Japanese actors are top-notch. Especially Snake and The Boss. Theres alot less action than previous trailers, the whole thing mostly just describes the relationship between Snake and The Boss, and introduces the Cobra members... Who The Boss leads. I'm pretty sure Snake was at one time a part of them aswell, being as The Boss was his mentor. Kind of like how Solid Snake was apart of FOXHOUND and then he has to fight them.

Anyhow, I have the Demo that is in this months OPM and I've played it. I'll need to have another go at it before I give any kind of impressions, though.
So, as I was saying... Well actually, I think I might give more of my thoughts on what we have seen with Snake Eater so far. I re-played Metal Gear Solid 2 and played the Snake Eater Demo quite abit this week, so I have alot of ideas rolling around in my head that I'll try and share with everyone else. Obviously, major Metal Gear Solid 1,2 spoilers ahead - Though I'm sure most of you have completed them by now, so I'm not going to mark them. Anyway, here goes:
First off, let's start with Solid Snake. Essentially, after Metal Gear Solid 2, Snake is no longer needed in the MGS series. He's the main character, sure, but it's kind of like Arnold in the Terminator series. They've reached a point where he is no longer needed to push the story ahead. Now, I'm going to try and explain that statement as best I can... Both MGS games have had a message so far, and Snake Eater will probably be no different. The games have alot of plot-lines, but these messages are at it's core. Without them, there would be no story.
In The Twin Snakes it was "We must not let our Genes determine our fate," - Birth, if you wanted to call it anything - This is displayed through the fact that Snake overcame his supposed limitations and defeated Liquid. Liquid, at a genetic level, was superior than Snake. But Snake did not let his Gene's control him as Liquid did, and managed to win.
In Sons of Liberty the message was "We must pass on our experiances to future generations," - Life - In essence we must pass on life and thing's that aren't written into our genetic code to future generations. Think of the relationship between Snake and Raiden, Raiden was unsure alot but Snake passed on what he had learned, his experiances, his knowledge, to a future generation. Raiden. That is partly the reason why we played as Raiden for a majority of the game, if we played as Snake and he randomly gave out advice to Raiden ( who, hyperthetically, the player would have no connection to ) the message at the core of Sons of Liberty would not be nearly as effective. Also, think of the Solid Snake Simulation program, the objective was to create a Solider on-par with Solid Snake through enviroment, emotion, and motivation. It was a success, however, Raiden still needed Snake ( the older generation ) to pass on his experiance. What he had learned. Or else, Raiden would have failed.
So, Snake has propelled these messages through both games. He didn't let his Gene's control him, and he passed on his experiance to future generations. It's called character development folks, Snake started as a drunken, lonely man in Alaska, and now he fights for a better future. Thus, where is there to go with the character? Olga's baby? The Patriots? Liquid? - Plot points, sure, but shallow ones. I would rather something new than rehashes of old. Solid Snake is done, there is no where left for him to go in the MGS series.
Now as I said before, you could look at the messages in both previous games as metaphorically Birth and Life, the next in line can either be Future or Death. One of these two themes, maybe both ( because MGS has alot to do with genes, so if we have covered Birth and Life in a genetic sense we must move on to Death and The Future. Death is pretty self-explainitory as to why they would go there, but why Future? Because, Cloning is something that is catagorized with the word "Future," and we all know how Cloning fits into Big Boss' story ), will have something to do with the message ( the core plot ) of Snake Eater. So why can't Solid Snake just propel the message as he did in the previous games? As I've just explained, there is no where for the character to go anymore in the MGS Trilogy, and he is not needed to push the story ( what these games are trying to tell us ) ahead. Case closed.
Anyway, I'll let you mull over that for awhile but I'll be back to continue my thoughts... I just wanted to try and explain why I think Snake Eater puts you in Big Boss' shoes. There are other factors too, but the argument I've brought up is the main one.

Here are the reviews:
Shane (10.0): You know that feeling you get when you're watching the ending credits of a really amazing game - when you instantly yearn to start all over again to discover all the stuff you missed along the way? You'll be feeling that way about five hours into MGS3. Simply put, it's the deepest, longest, and most replayable chapter in the Metal Gear Solid series yet.
After the lukewarm reception gamers gave MGS2: Sons of Liberty (most loved the gameplay but couldn't wrap their heads around its wild postmodern story line), no one knew what to expect from the plot of Snake Eater, a prequel to the existing titles. Would MGS creator Hideo Kojima delve even further into endless Codec philosophizing? Might he finally begin to unravel the labyrinthine backstory that's only been hinted at in previous games? Would that damn girlyman Raiden return? Well, Raiden-haters take note: MGS3 wisely returns to the style of MGS - it's a gripping yet easy to understand tale of heroism, love, and destiny, packed with memorable characters. Sure, a few bits of dialogue are overtly cheesy, with several homages to the '60s James Bond flicks and hilarious self-depreciating humor aimed at MGS vets. Nevertheless, chuckling's preferable to head scratching, and MGS3 keeps the confusing, meandering chatter of MGS2 to a minimum. Expect to be entertained from the opening cinema to the final epilogue.
While the dramatic story line and expertly directed cinemas drive the overall Snake Eater experience, pitch-perfect pacing blends the cut-scenes with ample amounts of gameplay. Oh, and what phenomenal gameplay it is...no other game has ever come close to matching MGS2's spot-on stealth action (sorry, Splinter Cell, but no), but MGS3 manages to improve the basic mechanics. The addition of customizable camouflage, hunting, and first-aid systems threatens to overly complicate matters, but keen implementation makes these new concerns realistic, rather than annoying. As expected, every facet of sneaking and shooting feels perfect, and series regulars will instantly feel comfortable with the controls.
So, what pushes Snake Eater into the realm of 10-ness? Three things excel far beyond possible expectations - visuals, length, and boss battles. Graphically, MGS3 pulls things out of the PS2 that nobody dreamed possible. Lush jungles, superdetailed characters, and outrageous effects (like fire and water) constantly amaze. You'll also notice a great deal of graphical diversity as Snake travels to several different locales during his surprisingly long mission. Expect to spend at least 25 hours playing before eating your final serpent. (And that probably doesn't include watching the cinemas either)
Finally, no MGS3 review could be complete without addressing the game's out-standing boss battles. Creepy, creative, and tenacious, the Cobra team outdoes even the wicked FoxHound squad from MGS in terms of flat-out coolness. The nerve-racking, ambitious duel against one boss, code-named The End, will likely go down as oe of gaming's finest (in a side panel, it says that this boss battle lasts over an hour long). So will the game itself.

Mark (9.0): The setup is nothing new - every Metal Gear plops you in the middle of nowhere wth only your wits (and maybe a few smokes)to get by. But Snake Eater delivers on the survival-and-conquer premise like never before. Staying hidden via stealth and camo, picking off the enemy one by one, living on captured snakes and fish, prying bullets out of your body before sewing up your wounds - John J. Rambo would be proud.
One thing I cannot stress enough: Patience is absolutely required to appreciate MGS3's unique new features. For example, almost any time you get hurt, you need to stop the game, and head to the cure subscreen to spread ointment on burns, stitch up cuts, or mend broken bones. Innovative and definitely realistic, but when you're hurrying or in a boss fight, constantly switching to a menu can be jarring and annoying. Likewise, swapping different uniforms and facepaints to camouflage yourself is great fun - lying in wait for an enemy perfectly hidden in the tall grass is what it's all about - but it also requires switching to a subscreen.
Luckily developer Konami added a great reward for staying stealthy - my favorite new feature, the close quarters combat (CQC) system. Get close enough to grab any enemy and your options are astounding: Slam him to the ground, interrogate him, slit his throat, choke him unconcsious, take him hostage, etc. - all these moves are executed with amazingly lifelike animation. Sure, you could gun your way through the whole game and never bother with CQC, but for those of us who know the thrills of true stealth gameplay, MGS3 offers an impressive deep end worth diving into.
And the graphics...oh my, the graphics. Snake Eater's outdoor environments are huge, bigger than anything Metal Gear Solid or any other console game has done before, yet detailed down to individual blades of grass. Seriously, at times it's hard to believe this game is running on a PS2 - it would still be a feat for ther Xbox. All the open space does come with a price, though. The irregular natural terrain and the fact that the new sonar radar doesn't show walls or where enemies are looking make it difficult to locate and keep track of bad guys. Metal Gear's top-down camera is not up to the task, so the player must constantly switch to first-person view or slowly crawl everywhere just to play it safe. I hate to say it, but I think the time has come to kiss the traditional view good-bye and embrace a more (dare I say?) Splinter Cell-style camera.
As for the biggest complaints about MGS2 - its bland, androgynous hero and convoluted story - MGS3 puts the series back on track. The plot is still filled with crazy twists, bizarre dialogue (one boss "meows" to call his troops) (this is my own opinion, but it must be Ocelot since ocelots are a part of the feline group, and we've already seen the boss fight where other troops are surrounding Ocelot), but the overarching plot is as exciting and unpredictable as a great popcorn movie. Add in tos of secrets, a bewildering array of different ways to tackle bosses, optional cut-scenes and minigames, and the overall polish Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima is known for, and you have one of the PS2's best games.
Malitos_Sahkir

Bryan (9.5): A sweaty controller, bent-but-not-broken nerves, a strange craving for snake meat - this game does a number on you both physically and mentally. But as the credits roll, I promise you'll also have a smile that stretches from ear to ear because you'll just have completed the finest installment in Konami's acclaimed stealth-espionage series.
It's kinda funny, but Metal Gear Solid mastermind Hideo Kojima had to take the franchise back in time (to the '60s, to be precise) in order for it to evolve. And it begins with the environments. Snake Eater's new emphasis on outdoor play presents welcome changes to the sneaky, as the uneven terrain makes the patterns of patrolling guards less predictable, plus the lack of an onscreen radar (don't listen to Mark - you won't miss it) and the ability to slice someone's jugular with the new, intuitive close quarters combat moves add to the tension. Oh, and Snake's trip into the great outdoor is a beautiful one. From the dense jungle full mud pits and waterfalls to the rocky mountainside at dusk, this series has once again raised the visual bar for the console.
Snake Eater is so well paced. Boss fights seem to happen right when the action needs an adrenaline shot, and surprisingly, you (and your blood pressure) will look forward to the downtime that the cutscenes offer. The finale is just the dramatic roller coaster you'd expect, and definitely worth the 20-plus-hour investment. Speaking of bosses, even though a few may be too easy to defeat, each Cobra member's shtick is quite original, and there's one encounter in particular that will have the Internet message board crazies yapping until MGS4 - believe me, your noggin and skills have never been tested like this.
Here are some other things that should please the longtime Metal Gear fans who had some legitimate complaints about MGS2: Sons of Liberty: The twist-filled plot actually makes sense, there are far fewer conversations with your allies over Codec (Codec may just be an error on the reviewer's part) (but give them a hollar once and a while; they have some good tips during boss battles), and Snake Eater is considerably longer than the previous game. And in true series form, there's a boatload of secrets that'll have you playing through the game multiple times. I'm totally snake-bitten...and I mean that in the best possible way.

Anything you guys wish you didn't know about Metal Gear Solid 3?
Personally, I can't think of anything really... I know a few tidbits about the gameplay that have come through recently which haven't been revealed before now, and all they do is make me more excited.
As for the story, if you've been following the trailers we know Snake will kill The Boss. I wouldn't call that a spoiler, it's been made very clear and has been the focus in the most recent trailer. The main objective of Operation Snake Eater is to assasinate The Boss. We know who all of the main characters are, and who The Cobra Unit is. We know The Shagohod is an early Metal Gear... But aside from that, we know nothing. The secrets of The Patriots will be revealed, what those secrets are is beyond me. Thus, nothing important has been spoiled.
I really, really can't wait for this game.

METAL GEAR SOLID 4 CONFIRMED
Konami discusses plans for next instalment in the story of Snake
14:48 It's the news anxious MGS fans have been waiting to hear: there will be another game in Hideo Kojima's legendary stealth series.
During a financial report meeting Konami announced that it did indeed have plans for Metal Gear Solid 4. Motoyuki Yoshioka, the big cheese at Konami of Japan, said, "We have some ideas and we've had them for some time now. We will continue to create more games on the series."
No other information about the title was offered and no format was specified, although it's likely that the title will appear on a next-gen platform, most likely PS3. Since Snake Eater is barely finished - it's due for release in the US on November 17, Japan on December 16 and Europe early next year - it's unlikely that many of Konami's "ideas" are anything more than that at present. We can be sure, however, that Kojima-san will have plenty of brainwaves to get working on.
More news on Metal Gear Solid 4 as it sneaks out of the undergrowth.

Gamespot, Gamespy, and IGN all have their final impressions up. Out of the three, I think IGN seems the most inthusiastic about it, and Gamespot the least.
They contain marked spoilers ( there are warnings before you read the section that contain the spoilers ) for Operation Virtuous Rescue, people who've played the Demo and watched the trailers can probably figure out where it goes from after you rescue Solokov anyway. And up until the second Boss of Operation Snake Eater.
Konami told them that the section they played was the most Story-Heavy in the game. And even then they had described going through various enviroments like dense jungles, swamps and caves.
As far as Story Spoilers go, I honestly won't remember most of what they said next week when the game is released. Playing and reading are two different thing's. For those of you not willing to read a detailed description; the spoilers ( stuff we couldn't have figured out by ourselves ), it's mostly just the breifing Snake gets from Major Zero before Operation Snake Eater commences. Why Solokov is so important, and the little known information about Volgin's motives with The Shagohod and The Cobra Unit that Major Zero has learned after Snake's falure with Virtuous Rescue, that's about it really.
As far as stuff that needs to be spoiler-tagged goes;
The Boss had a different code-name in WWII that you learn earlier on through, I assume, a Radio-Conversation with her - The Joy, it's what she felt during battle.
Before you get to the first Boss, there is a mini Boss of sorts - The Ocelot Unit.
The first Boss - Ocelot himself in a battle similar to Olga vs. Snake in 'Sons of Liberty. Ocelot is fresh from the advice given to him by Jack, he now weilds two Single Action Armies. The scene shown in the TGS 2004 trailer is the very same.
The second Boss, before their playthrough ended - The Pain. Snake fights him in some caves. There is water between him and Snake, when he sends bee's at you, you must dive in the water to avoid them. Usually the bee's are protecting him, so you have to blast them away and then shoot his exposed-spots before inflicting any damage.
As far as Gameplay goes, not too much we didn't already know... Eating is a must, but never gets annoying. A scene plays when Snake eats too. Healing is a must, you follow steps for different wounds... Like, Leches must be burned off with the Cigar, then the wound must be cleaned and bandaged. If you don't heal Snake then he won't recover Stamina. If he doesn't recover Stamina he doesn't recover Health, and if his stamina is low it effects Gameplay... As in, he'll have unsteady hands and blurred vision. All of the healing is done in the Cure Menu. Most wounds do not have any physical appearance-change on Snake, but in the long run if wounds are not properly cared for he will become rather deformed. There is wildlife and potential food everywhere. One of the earlier sections will see Snake cross a swamp carefully, as it is infested with Crocks.
As for Camo, you can for the most part, put on and take off any combination you like. Stealth is alot harder because Snake makes noise when he runs or walks, guards are no longer completely deaf. This is a Survival game, not a Stealth game. Stealth is a part of survival, sure, but sometimes you must take action rather than use stealth.

I wonder if there will be any little message at the end of SE like there was with MGS 1 and 2... if this is sapposed to be the last one, and all SE is is really a prequal, what could they say at the end of MGS3 that would really set up another game in the future?

Everyone else can have all their hoopla about Halo 2, but in my book this is the game that I've been waiting sooo long to come out, This game has everything, sneaking, all out battles, humor, Dramatic moments. THis is as close to actually "playing" a movie as you can get, and I love that fact. Im still a bit curious as to how the actual game is because lord knows what kind of conspiracy HK has playing out as to the real storyline and gameplay, Everyone knows what kind of paranoid schitzo Hideo is.

Ign.com and ebgames.com say that MGS3 comes out on the 17th.
I thought it came out on the 16th, and then when I looked at my Shopko and Target ads in the paper, it says it comes out on thee 19th. What is going on?

Has it gone gold yet?
Has to.. They never announced it for MGS 2.. So I'm pretty sure it's gone gold.

I got my EGM to day with MGS 3 on the cover. It has their review of it inside. It got a Gold. One guy gave it a 9.0, one a 9.5, and the last guy gave it a 10. Therefore it averaged a 9.5.
I cant wait!
